WHAT EXACTLY IS PASTEL?

Pastel is pure pigment, it's the most permanent of all media, when properly framed:
Pastels from the 16th century exist today, still perfect, and no restoration was ever needed!

There is a unique luminosity in a pastel painting, that cannot be found in any other media.
This is because pastel particles are multifaceted, just like diamonds, so they will give to the painting that lovely sparkle, which varies according to the light.

A pastel painting has the same stature of an oil ., as a major fine art medium and it must never be confused with colored chalks (chalk is a limestone substance impregnated with dyes).
